Commercial system
Buffer storage and distribution equipment. The reason a 300 L/hr generator can serve a facility whose peak demand briefly runs at three times that rate.
Generators produce continuously. Facilities consume in bursts. Reconciling those two facts is what holding tanks are for, and getting the buffer right is usually the difference between a system that fits comfortably and one that is either undersized in practice or overspecified on paper.
The calculation is the gap between peak demand and production rate, over the duration of the peak, plus a safety margin. A site drawing 900 litres in the half-hour after a shift ends, served by a 300 L/hr generator, needs roughly 750 litres of buffer to cover the shortfall — not a 900 L/hr machine.
