Schools and Campuses

Onsite Hypochlorous Acid in Schools and Campuses. Safety, cost, the evidence, and the rules that apply, for pre-K, K-12 districts and college campuses. October 2026, revision 1.

Written for facilities directors, custodial managers, school nurses and business officers. It starts where the decision does in education — with what staff handle, store and could mix in a building full of children — and works through the rules, the evidence and the numbers from there. More than 15 schools and campuses already produce their own hypochlorous acid with EcoloxTech systems.

What is inside

Section What it covers
1. What this paper claims, and what it does not The device position, where documented claims come from, and how the adoption count and cost figures are sourced.
2. Executive summary Safety, cost per litre and occupied-room handling, and the more than 15 schools and campuses already producing on site.
3. The operational problem Pre-K and childcare, K-12 classrooms, cafeterias, athletics, residence halls, dining and buses; asthma, custodial staffing and public budgets.
4. Safety first Hypochlorous acid against quats, bleach, peroxide and wipes on toxicity, storage and mixing, from labels, safety data sheets and poison-center data.
5. Schools and campuses already producing on site More than 15 sites using EcoloxTech systems, from our own records, and the pattern among schools that switch successfully.
6. What a generator is, and where it is used Room by room across a school or campus, and per-building units against central generation.
7. Where documented claims come from HOCl-AS200, EPA Reg. No. 101112-1: the organisms on the label that matter in schools, food-contact rules, and what stays off the label.
8. The rules that apply EPA labels, school meal food safety rules, the adopted Food Code, childcare licensing, school pest-management and green-cleaning laws, OSHA, and manufacturers’ instructions.
9. Cost analysis A hypothetical eight-building district: $46,000 a year replaced, about 19 months payback, with sensitivity and adjustments for pre-K and colleges.
10. Implementation roadmap Survey in spring, install over the summer, pilot for a term, then roll out, with three approval points.
11. What it does not fix Soil, respiratory spread, hand transmission, organisms off the label, staffing and equipment care; plus eight questions to ask any supplier, including us.

What this paper claims, and what it does not

The cover of the paper carries this in full. In short: an EcoloxTech system is a device that produces a hypochlorous acid solution on site, it is regulated by the EPA as a device, and we make no efficacy claims for it or for the solution it produces. Laboratory and published findings are reported as findings about hypochlorous acid under the conditions stated. Documented disinfection claims come from HOCl-AS200 (EPA Reg. No. 101112-1) used according to its label. The count of schools and campuses comes from our own customer records, and the district cost example is hypothetical. We do not claim that our equipment prevents illness or reduces absenteeism.

The sector programme is at schools and education, with companion pages comparing quats, bleach and wipes and setting out the district ROI model. The registered product is HOCl-AS200, and the generator is the EcoloxTech 300.
