A note on claims

EcoloxTech generators are regulated by the EPA as devices, are not registered disinfectants, and we make no efficacy claims for them or for the solution they produce. The only EcoloxTech product with disinfection claims is HOCl-AS200 (EPA Reg. No. 101112-1), used according to its label. What applies where is set out on our regulations page and in staying compliant with HOCl. Research referred to describes published studies under their own test conditions and is not a claim for any product.

It’s important to use caution when using cleaning products, even those marketed as natural or eco-friendly. Some of the chemicals in these products can cause irritation to the skin, eyes, and respiratory system and can even be toxic if ingested or inhaled in large amounts. It’s a good idea to wear gloves and other protective gear when using cleaning products and to keep them out of reach of children and pets. You should also read the labels carefully and follow the instructions to use the products safely. One safer alternative that we recommend is EcoloxTech HOCI, a cleaning solution made with hypochlorous acid (HOCI). This natural and effective disinfectant is safe for use around humans and pets. EcoloxTech HOCI can effectively clean and disinfect various surfaces in your home, making it a great choice for those who want to reduce their exposure to harmful chemicals while maintaining a clean and healthy living environment.

What effect do cleaning supplies and household items have on health?

Many cleaning products can irritate the eyes and throat or cause headaches and other health issues. Some of these products release harmful chemicals, like volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which evaporate at room temperature. Even natural scents, such as citrus, can produce harmful pollutants indoors. Research is being conducted to understand the impact of these chemicals on individuals with asthma and other respiratory conditions. It has been shown that exposure to chemicals from cleaning products can lead to occupational asthma and other respiratory diseases. Cleaning supplies can contribute to chronic respiratory problems, allergic reactions, and headaches.

There are a variety of cleaning and household products that may contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or other toxic substances. These products can include but are not limited to aerosol sprays (such as health, beauty, and cleaning products), air fresheners, chlorine bleach*, detergents, dishwashing liquid, dry cleaning chemicals, rug and upholstery cleaners, furniture and floor polish, and oven cleaners. It is important to note that bleach and any other product containing bleach should never be mixed with any cleaner that contains ammonia. The gases produced from this combination can cause chronic respiratory issues and be fatal.

How can you protect yourself from the dangers of cleaning and household products?

  • Before purchasing cleaning supplies or household products, read all labels. Choose goods that are free of or include low levels of VOCs, perfumes, irritants, and combustible components. Avoid using air fresheners at any cost.
  • Manufacturers are not required by law in the United States to list all ingredients in consumer products. Products labeled “green” do not always mean they are safer.
  • Conduct some product research from a trusted source. The Environmental Protection Agency, for example, maintains a list of goods that fulfill its Safer Choice guidelines for cleaning and other uses.
  • Cleaning goods for the home and automobiles are included on the list. Warm water and soap are frequently used as safer cleaning alternatives, especially at home. Scrubbing with baking soda is effective. Glass can be cleaned with vinegar and water.
  • Keep the area well-ventilated when using cleaning or household goods. Leave the windows and doors open. Cleaning products should never be used in a small, enclosed environment.

How to Use HOCI to Disinfect the House

HOCI (Hypochlorous acid) can be used to disinfect surfaces in the house. To use HOCI for disinfection, you can purchase a solution or generator that creates the acid and then follow these steps:

  • Clean the surfaces with soap and water to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Apply the HOCI solution to the surfaces using a spray bottle or cloth. Make sure to cover the surface fully.
  • Allow the solution to sit on the surface for at least 5 minutes. Efficacy claims belong to registered products used according to their labels: EcoloxTech generators are EPA-regulated devices and carry none, and the only EcoloxTech product with disinfection claims is HOCl-AS200, EPA Reg. No. 101112-1.
  • Wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth to remove any remaining solution.
  • Allow the surface to air dry.
  • It is important to use caution when handling HOCI solution, as it can be corrosive to certain materials and irritate the skin and eyes. It is also important to note that HOCI should not be used on certain surfaces, such as aluminum or zinc. It should be kept out of reach of children and should not be ingested.

There are a few reasons why EcoloxTech HOCI pest and germs cleaning product may be less of a threat to users than other products:

  • HOCI, or hypochlorous acid, is a naturally occurring compound that is produced by the human body to fight infection and inflammation. It is also found in small amounts in some foods, such as fermented products. As a result, HOCI is generally considered to be safe for use in cleaning products.
  • EcoloxTech HOCI cleaning product is free of harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances, which can irritate the skin and respiratory system. This makes it a good choice for people sensitive to these ingredients.
  • This means that it can disinfect surfaces effectively and reduce the risk of illness.
  • EcoloxTech HOCI cleaning product is eco-friendly, as it breaks down into water and oxygen after use, leaving no harmful residues behind. This makes it a good choice for people concerned about their cleaning products’ environmental impact.

Finally, cleaning and disinfecting with EcoloxTech HOCI is a safe and effective option. In addition, it has a low environmental impact, making it an attractive option for those who care about the effects of their cleaning goods.
